19 Haircuts You'Re Going To See All Spring 2022
And whether you're looking for a drastically different new spring haircut or just want a few minor fashionable tweaks to your current look, the stylists are eager to share their take on what the trends in hair salons will look like over the course of this season. future seasons - and they don't always agree. Chris Appleton, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez's go-to stylist, tells Allure that after all the effortless, natural looks of the last two years of understated beauty, "people are ready to try a little harder and add a little bit of extra oomph,'" by switching to sleek, straight styles, tight ponytails, and braids. But Brown sees things differently: "There's going to be a lot of abandonment of the traditional pulled-back look," she says, believing there will be a lot of flowing hair in 2022. While browsing through this list of haircuts hairstyles and hair ideas, keep in mind the features of your face you want to enhance — instead of your face shape — says hairstylist Wes Sharpton, New York-based hairstylist and Hairstory's resident hairstylist.Move Over, Curtain Bangs—2022 Is All About Bottleneck Bangs
Tom shares that they "[take] their name from the curve that is seen from the neck and shoulder of a bottle which describes how they frame the wearer's face." They are "narrower and shorter in the middle between the eyebrows and angle sharply around the eyes, curving into a second 'layer' of bangs that rests around the cheekbones or jawline".Besides their ability to flatter almost any face shape, Tom shares that "one of the biggest selling points of this bang is that it looks great when worn with your hair up." The bottleneck bangs are achieved by first determining your desired shortest center length and longest lengths,” he begins. “Next, cut bangs that skim your cheekbones at an angle that flatters your face, curving to create a layer that sits somewhere between your cheekbones and your jawline, which disconnects from the rest of the hair.Keep the cut line soft and choppy, with the shortest part in the middle and longer at the edges. that "on thicker hair, I like to customize this more by cutting a bit of weight to give the bang movement."
Who they are perfect for
Almost any hair type can sport these bangs, although Tom notes that "hair types 1B to 3B can wear these bangs easily." Those with 1A, 3C, 4A, 4B, or 4C hair types may have a little more difficulty with the style, although it's not impossible to get the cut. For Type 1A hair, Tom notes that you need to be "prepared to style the curves and shape them" accordingly. “3C and 4A hair types can consider a bottleneck fringe version, but the result should be adjusted to complement the curl pattern and account for the curl length of the face frame,” Tom explains. "4B and 4C hair types will struggle to get the definition needed from the bangs without a bit of styling."
When it comes to face shape, these bangs look great on any face. "Because the top middle part of the bangs can be adjusted to part and sweep, it can be great for making a shorter face look longer," Tom explains. If one wants to wear full bangs, this can also be achieved by keeping the longer edges to create the bottleneck shape.
He shares that this style of bangs works best on those with longer or wider face shapes "because of the way the hair frames and closes in on the face in a very sexy and sultry way." They are also phenomenal for square face shapes. “The curves and angles of the bangs can soften a strong, square face very successfully,” says Tom. "I love using a straightener to bend them in really customizable ways, but they can also be blow-dried with a round brush or styled with a large curling iron for a shinier result," says Tom.
